                                                         AWARENESS MONTH

Every two minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer. Although mammograms are among the best methods of early detection, 13 million U.S. women 40 years of age or older have never had one.

With a simple daily click on the pink button at ww.TheBreastCancerSite.com, you can help fund a free mammogram for a woman in need.  It costs you nothing!
Site sponsors
fund the mammograms your clicks provide.  100% of sponsor funding is given to the nonprofit National Breast Cancer Foundation. Founded by a 25-year breast cancer survivor, NBCF seeks to increase awareness through education and provide mammograms to homeless, working poor, and un-insured women who would not otherwise have access to this lifesaving screening.

2010 Spring/Summer

Another successful Detroit Mission Stars Season comes to a close

Seems like just yesterday when Detroit Mission Stars/Storm's Director, Dave Zarem, received the call from the Mission Corporate stables in California to develop a Youth Program. Now at the end of their 4th year it continues to be a huge success. Moving the program to Joe Dumar's Fieldhouse has been a real challenge with sending the true meaning of being “part of a club”. “For those that stuck with us through thick and thin, I commend you”, said Zarem. “Giving up isn’t an option in life, and teaching this to our players is something we stand strong on with this program”. Corporate Mission employee Jay Russell, who attended the TORHS Nationals with the Mission product line, was in agreement. “We support the DMS program and are proud of the way they carry themselves on, and off the floor” Russell said.

“As far as we are concerned - the DMS programs and all it's members are winners at every event"

DETROIT MISSION STARS/STORM

COMPETE HARD AT TORHS NATIONALS

After competing in the TORHS Summer Nationals, the DMS program has received rave reviews for their dedication to developing young athletes. This hard work and dedication was evident in the fact that DMS/Storm was proud to have 9 teams representing in this year's TORHS competition held in the Taylor SportsPlex.

12u DMS Coach Rob Mortiere was pleased with his 2-2 round robin play and competed hard in a tough playoff loss to a tough eventual Silver finalist St. Louis Blast team.

12u Mission Storm Coach John Cather was proud of his team as they took eventual winner St. Louis Blast to OT and gave them all they could handle in a tough OT loss in the semis.

14u DMS Coach Steve Kolis had his back up against the wall with a short bench and tough schedule. Persevering is the lesson learned here this year, and for that this team gets an A+.

14u Mission Storm Coach Dave Zarem took this team over at the start of the season after losing their head coach. He promised that he would be in it till the end. In the end they took home the gold.

16u DMS Coach John Murray knows that everything changes in the playoffs. After rolling through the round robin undefeated, they lost a tough one in the first round of the playoffs.

18u DMS Coach Dave Zarem feels the same way as Coach Murray. After being one of the clear favorites they lost a tough one in the semi final game against eventual winner Pittsburgh Fusion.

DMS Women’s Coach Dave Zarem had his first year’s women’s team improving every game with team leader Nicolette Franck between the pipes. Losing to a good Tour Bordercats team in OT taking home Silver in the Championship game.

DMS 30+ Team was a favorite going into this division. After a few close calls, including a 3-2 win in the finals. Player/Coach John Smith's group of players has won an amazing 3 USA National (full check) ice titles, along with 10 Roller Hockey National titles.

DMS Tier 2 Pro Team has had a rough year with some tough losses in tournaments. Coming in to this Pro division Coach Dave Zarem knew they had to commit themselves to winning. Clearing personal schedules and coming in physically prepared was a challenge in itself. With goalie Joel Miller playing with the flu, the team rallied and came out on top in the Championship game 5-2 vs. the number one seed from Ontario.
